(Audubon, IA) — Audubon boys wrestling will be heading to Holstein, Iowa and Ridge View High School for districts this Saturday. The Wheelers do not have any kids ranked but at this point, Head Coach Tyler Christensen says you can throw the rankings out the window. The Elmquist brothers will be hard to contend with and the district does not have many ranked kids in the lighter weights. Sophomore Leyton is 43-8 at 113 pounds and Senior Lane is 33-11 at 126 pounds. Lane will have the tougher bracket with Tate Jensen of GTRA ranked #6 and Caleb Hoffman of Coon Rapids Bayard who beat Elmquist recently. Christensen says they will both be tough outs in their brackets
Jon Rasmussen was ranked at one point but is 40-10 at 138 pounds, Taylin Hall of Lawton Bronson is ranked #12 and they will be the favorites in that bracket. Rasmussen went to state last year as kind of an underdog but this year the expectations are higher
Junior Karter Obermeier is 19-4 at 165 pounds and will have to fight through Tyrenor Cose, ranked #7 from Coon Rapids Bayard, and Nash Larson, ranked #12 from Alta Aurelia. The 285 weight class is wide open which will give Junior Lane Meyer a shot at state with a 34-17 record
106 is a wide open bracket with Freshman Karson Juelsgaard 30-17 — Lawton Bronson’s Izac Ricke is 33-8 and MVAOCOU’s Wyatt Hieber is 26-5. Sophomore Ehtan Haubrich will have to crack two ranked wrestlers at 157 — Caleb Swedin #6 of GTRA and Ethan Bauer #11 for CRB.
