(Atlantic) Atlantic travels to Harlan tonight for a Hawkeye Ten Conference Boys’ basketball game. The Cyclones defeated the Trojans 80-60 on January 16. The Cyclones shot 58 percent from the field and made 11 of 18 three-point shots.
The Trojans held Harlan’s leading scorer, Dallas McDowell, to 10 points; however, Kobe Klaasen picked up the slack with 21 points and 7-for-10 shooting. Atlantic Head Coach Dalton Franken says it still comes down to defending Dallas McDowell, who is averaging 16.5 points per game.
Coach Franken says the Trojans need to cut down on the turnovers when they face Harlan this time around.
The Trojans are coming off a 64-62 overtime win over Denison-Schleswig last Friday night, and they need to keep the momentum going in the last three games of the regular season.
Gavin McLaren leads the Trojans in scoring, averaging 13.28 points per outing. Kale Jensen, coming off a 28-point outing against the Monarchs on Friday, averages 13.11 ppg.
We will air the broadcast on 95.7 FM and stream it live on westerniowatoday.com TV and YouTube. The pre-game for the girls’ game starts at 5:45 p.m., the tip-off at 6:00 p.m., with the boys’ game to follow.
