(Atlantic) Haley Armstrong is awarded the KS 95.7 Armour Insurance Trojan Athlete of the Week for earning an individual title at the Iowa Girls’ State Wrestling Tournament in Coralville.
The Atlantic senior dominated the 235-pound class by pinning her way through the tournament. Armstrong posted falls in 44, 51, and 1:55 before the championship. Haley pinned Rose Niewoehner of Crestwood just before time ran out in the first period.
Armstrong finishes her senior season with an untarnished 42-0 record. During her high school career, Armstrong earned four state tournament medals — the first two were 8th- and 3rd-place finishes with SWAT — and in her junior year, she finished 5th.
