(Harlan) A Malvern, Iowa, man faces multiple charges following a pursuit in Shelby and Pottawattamie Counties on Saturday.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Nicholas James Gragg is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, 2nd offense, Prohibited Acts, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Reckless Driving, Eluding, and several citations.
The incident started at around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday when a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop for a vehicle traveling in excess of 80 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone on Highway 59 near County Road F-32. Gragg fled south on Highway 59 through Avoca, Hancock, Oakland, and west on Highway 6 into Council Bluffs. During the pursuit, two Shelby County Deputies performed a PIT maneuver in an attempt to end the chase. Subsequently, Gragg crashed his vehicle near the 4.9-mile marker of the I-29/I-80 expressway. Gragg attempted to flee on foot; however, law enforcement immediately apprehended him.
