(Des Moines) Gasoline prices across Iowa continued to trend downward this week, according to AAA’s Weekly Fuel Report.
The average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Iowa fell five cents from last week to $2.50 per gallon. That price is 39 cents lower than a year ago. Nationally, the average price of regular unleaded rose one cent this week to $2.89.
Crude oil prices showed mixed movement. West Texas Intermediate crude increased by 40 cents per barrel to $63.34, while Brent crude fell 44 cents to $67.56. One year ago, WTI crude was selling for $73.04 per barrel and Brent crude averaged $76.58.
Diesel prices in Iowa also declined, dropping three cents this week to a statewide average of $3.37 per gallon. That compares to $3.42 one year ago. Iowa’s diesel price remains 27 cents lower than the national average of $3.64.
In the heating fuels market, natural gas prices fell 38 cents at the Henry Hub reporting site to $3.47 per million British thermal units. Propane prices averaged $1.62 per gallon statewide, while home heating oil prices averaged $2.92 per gallon across Iowa.
