(Ames, IA) — The #7 ranked Iowa St. men’s basketball team got all they could handle with Baylor, surviving a late scare to win 72-69 in a Big 12 game on Saturday.
For a long time, it was looking like a solid win for ISU. The Cyclones were up 6 early in the 2nd half and went on a 9-2 run to build a 48-35 lead. Baylor hit just one shot in a 7 minute stretch as Iowa St. took control of the game. ISU had a 20-7 overall run to take a 63-51 lead with about 7 minutes left. Leading by 14 with 2:12 to play but the Bears scored the final 11 points of the game. Tounde Yessoufou hit a three pointer late to make it a one possession game but there was only one second left.
Iowa St. (21-2, 8-2) was led by Milan Momcilovic with 21 points including 7-7 from the free throw line. Joshua Jefferson had 15 points, Tamin Lipsey had 14 points and 9 rebounds. Nate Heise added 8 off the bench.
Cameron Carr led Baylor (13-10, 3-8) with 24 points.
