(Pottawattamie Co.) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Monday, February 24, at 10:00 a.m. and consider additional action to authorize a Loan Agreement and the issuance of up to $6 million in General Obligation Capital Loan Notes. The funds would be used for essential county purposes, including the acquisition, construction, and installation of peace officer equipment and emergency services communication systems such as new towers, microwave equipment, and consoles.
Principal and interest on the proposed loan would be paid from the County’s Debt Service Fund. The estimated annual property tax increase resulting from the issuance is not expected to exceed $8.06 on a residential property with an actual value of $100,000. County officials note the notes may be issued in one or more series over several years, and the actual tax impact could vary depending on future financing decisions and changes in other levies.
In other news, on Tuesday the Supervisors recognized Elections Manager Marilyn Kennedy for her 17 years of dedicated service and her retirement. Auditor Mary Ann Hanusa said the recognition came with mixed emotions: they are happy Kennedy is able to retire, but sad to be losing a great employee in the Auditor’s Office.
The Supervisors approved the Pottawattamie County Tourism funding request in the amount of $70,000 and approved a motion to direct secondary roads to place speed reduction signs on the north and south ends of Neola.
