(Underwood, IA) — On Tuesday night, Underwood beat Tri Center 69-58 in a Western Iowa Conference rematch. It was the first defeat for the Trojans and for the Eagles, they defended their home floor and got some revenge after losing the first game in Neola 58-53. Garrett Luett led the way with 22 points and Nolan Baker had 21. Both teams shot identical — 23 of 47 from the field. Tri Center was 9 of 18 on their threes and they had two more triples than the Eagles. However, Underwood had two big advantages — they outrebounded Tri Center 33 to 17 and they were 16 of 23 from the free throw line. Luett, a senior, leads the team averaging 16.3 points per game, Junior Landon Wigginton averages 12.8 ppg but Baker scored 10 above his average of 11.7 against Tri Center with 21
Tri Center still leads the Western Iowa Conference standings at 13-1, Treynor is a game back at 12-2 — those two teams play at Treynor this Friday — and Underwood is in third place at 11-3. Blum says its no cupcake league
