(Atlantic) Atlantic and Glenwood will face off for the second time this season tonight in a Regional Dual Semi-final at Sergeant Bluff-Luton. The 11th-rated Trojans narrowly defeated the 13th-ranked Glenwood 36-35 in a regular-season dual on January 22. Since then, the Trojans have secured wins over Shenandoah and St. Albert, clinching the Hawkeye Ten Conference Dual Team title.
The winner of the Glenwood – Atlantic dual will wrestle Sergeant Bluff-Luton for a trip to the State Dual Tournament set for Saturday, February 7, at Xtream Arena in Coralville. Atlantic Head Coach Tim Duff says tonight is an opportunity for the team. He says it is all about wrestling for your teammates and leaving it all on the mat.
He mentioned that the team will need a few heroic performances to succeed.
He also noted that wrestling cannot be judged on paper alone; outcomes are determined by the effort put in during the match.
Both teams are familiar with each other, and Coach Duff believes it is crucial to stay present and not dwell on past encounters. He stated that the team that excels in this area will ultimately prevail. The Atlantic vs. Glenwood dual begins at 6:00 p.m., with our broadcast available on KS 95.7. Pre-game coverage starts at 5:45.
The winner will face Sergeant-Bluff-Luton immediately following the semi-finals for a trip to the state.
