(West Des Moines) Grant Petty and Gabrielle Engler led the Atlantic boys’ and girls’ teams with standout performances in the 3D competition at the West Des Moines January Quad on Saturday. Atlantic edged Valley for the team title, 1683–1637.
Petty paced the boys’ field with a winning score of 287, while Engler topped the girls’ division with a 281. Hunter Quist added another strong showing for the boys, placing second with a 282, and Hank Roberts finished fourth with a 269. On the girls’ side, Lily Johnson was the runner-up at 279, followed by Madeline Blake in fourth with a 278, Shauna Anderson in fifth at 276, and Lily Willrich seventh with a 273.
In the Bullseye Tournament, Petty claimed another first-place finish with a 289. Roberts placed sixth with a 278. Blake led the girls with a third-place score of 284, Johnson finished fifth at 280, and Engler rounded out the top eight with a 276. Valley won the team title in Bullseye with a 3342, Atlantic finished second with a 3286, and Grand View Christian finished third shooting a 3185.
Atlantic Middle School earned a second-place finish in the 3D competition with a team score of 1477. The Atlantic girls were led by Lucy Northwick, who placed sixth with a 256, followed by Rylie Begley in seventh with a 249 and Lucy McCurdy in ninth at 247.
For the boys, Hunter Kardell paced the AMS team with a fourth-place finish and a score of 246. Dustin Caudill finished eighth with a 238, and Bryan Caudill rounded out the top ten in ninth with a 237.
Atlantic Middle School placed third in the Bullseye competition with a team score of 3038. Bryan Caudill led the boys with a second-place finish, scoring a 276, while Nolan Sunderman placed eighth with a 264.
On the girls’ side, Lucy Northwick paced the Atlantic team with a score of 266. Lucy McCurdy finished eighth overall with a 261, and Amelia McBride followed close behind with a 260.
