(Guthrie Center, IA) — In their final regular season action of the season, Riverside won the Charger Invitational on Saturday hosted by AC/GC. The Bulldogs had 196.5 points, finishing 27 ahead of 2nd place Eagle Grove. Earlham was third with 164, SE Polk JV fourth with 156 and AC/GC rounded out the top five with 137.5.
Riverside had two champions with Drew Anderson winning at 138 pounds, going 3-0 with 2 tech falls and a fall by 1:36 in the finals and Max Shanno won at 165 pounds going 4-0. Shanno won 2-1 in the third sudden death round over Treynor Cose of Coon Rapids Bayard.
AC/GC had two champions: Charlie Christensen at 144 pounds went 4-0 with 4 falls and Carter Richter at 215 pounds went 3-0 with 2 falls and beat Taren Dierking of SE Warren 4-3 in the title match.
Nodaway Valley had three champions. Ashton Honnold and Caleb Christensen both remained undefeated on the season winning at 285 and 190 respectively — Honnold went 4-0 with 4 first period falls and Christensen went 3-0 with 2 falls and a 15-4 MD in the finals. Ty Strode won at 132 pounds going 4-0 with 3 falls and a tech fall in the finals.
AHSTW had four wrestlers compete and Roman Scheffler finished in 5th place at 285 pounds.
Coon Rapids Bayard’s best finish was Cose in 2nd place at 165. Blake Schwartz of Panorama was third at 165 pounds. West Central Valley did not have any placewinners.
