(Atlantic) At approximately 6:11 PM on January 29th, 2026, the Cass County Communications Center received a report of a dispute at 404 Linn Street in Atlantic, Iowa that resulted in one individual sustaining a gun shot wound to the abdomen.
The Atlantic Police Department, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, and Cass EMS responded to the scene.
Anthony Asay of Atlantic was transported to Cass Health and flown to the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines where he is currently in a stable condition.
The Atlantic Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances of the incident and are being assisted by the Cass County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation. There are no ongoing threats to the safety of our community and all parties involved have been contacted and/or talked to by law enforcement.
