(Neola, IA) — Tri Center improved to 18-0 on the season with a 68-57 win over Audubon on Friday night.
It was not an easy win for the Trojans as the Wheelers battled them for three quarters. Carson Wessel got hot early for Audubon, scoring 7 points in the opening quarter and 12 in the first half. The Wheelers led 14-10 after one quarter and led 27-23 at the half.
Audubon built a 31-23 lead early in the 2nd half but Nolan Kunze hit a three, Cael Witt hit a three, AJ Harder drove and scooped one in to tie the game at 31-31. After an Audubon timeout, Brody Weber got a lay-up to retake a lead but Witt another triple to make it 34-33 Tri Center. The teams traded the lead again but the Trojans held a 45-43 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Tyler Baatz dominated early in the 4th quarter, getting room in the paint and getting to the free throw line. AJ Harder then took over late including an incredible leaning three pointer with 54 seconds left as time was winding down on the shot clock to make it a 9 point lead.
Baatz and Harder led Tri Center with 22 points while Nolan Kunze added 12.
Audubon (9-8) was led by Wessel with 17 points, Kjergaard had 15 and Austin Christensen added 11.
