(Neola, IA) — ATU Girls Wrestling will be among the teams in the field at the girls wrestling regionals at Atlantic this Friday. (ATU is AHSTW, Tri Center and Underwood under one banner). The leader is Junior Sophia Hazen at 105 pounds who is ranked 8th in Class 1A with a 37-3 record. Head Coach Mark Hazen has some other talented girls on the mat including Sophomore Cecilia Forrester who is 34-12 at 100 pounds and most of her losses have been to 2A competition
At 110 pounds, Trinity Bret (Bray) is 27-12 and will have a tough bracket with Macy Rasmussen of Audubon and Lexa Vinsonhaler of Missouri Valley in the field and both beat her twice this season
At 155 pounds, Junior Annabel Baxter might not be a high seed with a 14-10 record but Hazen says the record might be misleading
The following teams will join ATU and Atlantic in the regionals: Audubon, Clarinda, East Mills, Griswold, Logan-Magnolia/Woodbine, Missouri Valley, Red Oak, Riverside, Shenandoah, Sidney, SWAT, Treynor, West Central Valley, West Monona, and Woodward Granger.
