(Lubbock, TX) — Audi Crooks poured in 33 points to lead Iowa St. to an upset over #21 Texas Tech in a Big 12 women’s basketball game on Wednesday.
The win was number 297 for Cyclones Head Coach Bill Fennelly which made him the winningest coach in conference history. Fennelly passes Kim Mulkey the current LSU Head Coach who won 296 games at Baylor.
ISU scored the first six points of the game and never trailed. Reagan Wilson hit a three pointer to give Iowa St. a 33-20 lead early in the 2nd quarter. The Cyclones then made just one of their last 7 shots of the first half and the Red Raiders cut the lead to 40-38 at the break.
Iowa St. pushed the lead back up to 10 as Sydney Harris scored the final five points of the third quarter. Harris hit a three with 48 seconds left in the quarter to end a Tech 9-2 run. Crooks took control early in the 4th quarter to spark a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.
Crooks had a double double for Iowa St. (17-5, 5-5) with 12 rebounds. Jada Williams had 15 points and Harris added 13.
Texas Tech (20-3, 7-3) was led by Sidney Love with 17 points while Bailey Maupin had 16. Jaylynn Bristow averages 12.0 points per game and was held to 6.
