(Pottawattamie Co.) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors received a countywide public library update this morning.
Antonia Krupicka-Smith, Director of the Council Bluffs Public Library, said they have seen a lot of growth over the past year. She said they have just over 4,800 card holders in the county that utilize both the digital collections and the physical collections. She mentioned that their door-counts and check-out counts are both up.
Krupicka-Smith noted that Willow on Wheels, the library’s outreach van, gives them an opportunity to get out in the county.
Krupicka-Smith also highlighted that they have seen a resurgence in people wanting the physical books over digital.
Sabrina Lewis, Director of the Avoca Public Library, said they have also seen an increase over the past year. They offered 185 programs and checked out 13,000 physical items to patrons and 3,000 digital.
Lewis said they have a lot of fun events coming up.
Other libraries located in Pottawattamie County include Walnut, Oakland, and Carter Lake. The directors of those libraries were unable to attend the presentation today.
