(Oakland, IA) — CAM will visit Riverside tonight in a girls boys basketball doubleheader, coverage on KSOM.
The Riverside girls team is 12-2 and had their 12 game win streak snapped on Tuesday by Glenwood 41-28. With the loss, the Bulldogs slipped two spots in the rankings from #6 to #8. Riverside only shot 24 percent from the field in the game and were just 1-9 from three point land. They also played without starter Sophia Fenner who has sprained her ankle and will be a game time decision tonight. Head Coach Mark Jeppesen says they will push through things whether Fenner can play or not
CAM is 8-6 and coming off a 56-49 win over Woodbine. Ruthie Rich and Ada Hansen each led with 15 points and Courtney Follmann added 13. Jeppesen says their zone defense is a tough nut to crack
Hansen leads CAM at 19.2 ppg while Sydney Somers led the Bulldogs at 13.7 ppg.
The Riverside boys have fallen on hard times losing 4 in a row with the record dropping to 7-6. Peyton Amdor leads with 18.1 ppg. Head Coach Nick Kroon says they have had a hard time trying to put the peach in the peach basket
CAM is 5-7 and has been inconsistent. They lost to an under .500 AC/GC team on Monday by double digits and turned around the next day and upset a 9 win Woodbine team by double digits. Gunnar Hoguieson had only 6 points against the Chargers but 21 versus the Tigers. Collin Bower continues to lead the team with 14.2 ppg but had only 9 against Woodbine. The Cougars have more size than the Bulldogs so Kroon would like to equal the odds with a pressure defense that he has not used in the WIC
CAM Head Coach Ian Hunt says they played with more fire on Tuesday against Woodbine as opposed to Monday against AC/GC
The Cougars will have the size advantage against the Bulldogs who are a little faster so Hunt will want to slow them down
CAM visits Riverside in a basketball DH, girls start at 6, pre game at 5:40, video on You Tube and Western Iowa Today TV and audio at 96.5 FM KSOM.
