Honnold is currently 35-0 and ranked #1 at 285. Junior Caleb Christensen is also undefeated at 33-0 and ranked #7 at 190 pounds. Last year, he was 43-13 went to state but went 0-2 at the Well. Honnold says that Christensen really dedicated himself in the off-season to get better
Also for Nodaway Valley, Senior Matthew Nelson is 23-16, Senior Ty Strode is 29-4, Senior Keyin Steeve is battling injuries but is 14-5, Freshman Thomas Herrick is 26-10 and Sophomore Josh Nelson is 28-4 — he was 2nd at Creston, 2nd at Tri Center, 2nd at Riverside and won at the Coach Riley and Pride of Iowa meets. Nelson has wrestled most of the season at 113 but Honnold says he is moving down to 106
On Thursday, Nodaway Valley will compete in a quadrangular in Shenandoah with Creston and Denison Schleswig before the John J. Harris tournament in Corning begins on Friday night.
