(Harlan, IA) — This weekend, Harlan’s boys wrestling team finished 2nd in the Ron Scott Duals in Mount Ayr. For the Cyclones, Brody Bendorf has stood out this year despite another injury in a career of injuries he has had to overcome.
Bendorf went 4-3 in the two day tournament and faced some tough competition — his overall record is now 11-5. The Junior had to miss the start of the season because of back problems and he missed a large chunk of last season as well. He was healthy as a freshman and went 23-21. Last year is where the first injury happened
Bendorf is part of a wrestling family — his older brothers Zane and Carter both were on the mat, his younger brother Liam is a freshman at Harlan and wrestles and his Dad is his coach which he does not mind
Bendorf describes his relationship with his brothers as competitive growing up. Now that they are out of the house, they have been supportive
The time away from the mat this year has affected Bendorf’s training so he is not where he wants to be right now but plans on getting there before districts arrive on February 14
Next up for Bendorf and the Harlan wrestling team is a quadrangular at Colfax Mingo on Tuesday.
