(New York, NY) — January is National Blood Donor Month and a doctor is emphasizing the importance of donating to help people with health issues. Emergency Medicine physician Thomas Waters at the Cleveland Clinic says blood donations help with trauma patients, those with cancer and people undergoing surgery.
Waters explains the importance of blood donations.
Blood donations only last up to 42 days, which is why there is a constant need for donations. The American Red Cross points out someone needs blood every two seconds in the U.S. A donation takes about ten minutes followed by food and drink and rest for about 15 minutes.
