(Pottawattamie Co.) A Council Bluffs man died in a single vehicle accident in Pottawattamie County Friday afternoon.
The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at 12:03 p.m. on I-80 westbound. 56-year-old Mark Douglas Hayden was driving a 2004 Peterbilt semi on I-80 near mile marker 12 within the right lane. Witnesses stated that strong winds caused the semi to lose control on the roadway. Hayden attempted to maintain control, but the semi tipped onto the driver’s side in the median, striking the cable barrier.
Hayden was transported by Underwood Rescue to Cutler O’Neill Funeral Home.
