(Greenfield, IA) — The best thing about conference basketball is you often get a second chance. Nodaway Valley girls took advantage of that on Tuesday night beating #15 Mount Ayr 73-71, winning their 10th game in a row and making their case for the IGHSAU rankings.
The Wolverines built a 13 point lead at the half but Mount Ayr came all the way back led by Izzy Gilbertson who had to sit on the bench with foul trouble. Izzy Eisbach would hit two free throws with 5 seconds left to break a tie and the Raiders last second shot was short. Izzy led with 43 points but Head Coach Brian Eisbach said other players contributed to the win as well including Emma Boswell
In the first game, Nodaway Valley did not have Mattison Thompson who was hurt to start the season. Eisbach says she could see more minutes the rest of this season as she gets healthier
Mount Ayr had won the last three meetings between the two teams so Eisbach says this victory meant a lot
Nodaway Valley is now 10-1 and will host Panorama on Thursday night and visit Wayne on Friday.
