(Neola, IA) — AHSTW will visit Tri Center tonight in a Western Iowa Conference basketball doubleheader, coverage on KSOM.
In the girls game, AHSTW is 6-5 and had a 3 game winning streak broken last Thursday to Coon Rapids Bayard 52-44. Addison Carroll leads the Lady Vikes at 13 points per game and Bella Lamp averages 10 points a ball game. Head Coach Jason McCall says they are great leaders
Tri Center is led by two freshmen — Lauren Harder averages 8.9 ppg and Hailey Harder is at 7.2 ppg. AHSTW beat them 38-22 in December but McCall expects them to play better tonight
Tri Center is 4-5 and coming of a 24-21 win over Missouri Valley. Head Coach Derek Sonderland realizes his team is young but is concentrating on getting better in every game
Sonderland says that the Lady Vikes give a great effort
On the boys side, the Vikings have a huge challenge to try and knock off the undefeated Trojans on their home court. AHSTW lost to Audubon on Friday 65-53 and then fell to MVAOCOU 64-40 on Saturday. Collin Harder led the way in a losing effort with 20 points. Vikings Head Coach GG Harris believes if they are going to play with Tri Center they have to do a better job of rebounding
Tri Center won the first meeting 79-72 — Harris says his team needs to play a complete game, all 32 minutes in order to beat a very good team
Tri Center beat Underwood before the winter break and then came back and knocked off #2 Treynor. The Trojans thumped Missouri Valley on Friday 82-57 with AJ Harder leading the way with 30. Harder is averaging around 20 per game and Tyler Baatz is at about 17 per game and Head Coach Chad Harder says they work well together
AJ Harder is a cousin to Collin and Evan Harder and Chad Harder is Collin’s Godfather. Chad Harder knows that the Harder boys are tough to stop
AHSTW is 2-8, Tri Center is 9-0. Our coverage starts with the girls game at 6pm, Pre Game at 5:40 on KSOM and Western Iowa Today TV.
