(Atlantic) Atlantic sophomore Keaton Schroeder, seeded third in the 120-pound weight bracket, knocked off the number 2 and number one seeded wrestlers to capture the individual title at the Rollin Dyer Invitational in Atlantic on Saturday. For his performance on Saturday, Keaton Schroeder has been awarded the KS 95.7 Armour Insurance Athlete of the Week.
Schroeder started off the tourney with a pin over Nikko Stearns of AHSTW in 1:29, followed that up with a pin over Leaton Langschwager of Alta-Aurelia in 1:52, and won by a 7-1 decision in the semi-finals over Jaron Jacobs of Greene County.
Schroeder battled through some adversity in the finals and came from behind to defeat the number one seed, Rudy Rodriquez of Greene County.
Schroeder credits his coaches and teammates for preparing him to compete at his best each match.
With the title on Saturday, Schroeder improves to 34-7 on the year. Atlantic competes next on Saturday, January 17, at the Lloyd Shaffer Invitational at Marion.
