(Bloomington, IN) — Indiana must have felt like they would have the Hawkeyes number with a big halftime lead. Iowa, however, had different ideas overcoming a 16 point deficit to beat the Hoosiers 56-53 in a Big 10 match up on Sunday.
Indiana built a 35-19 halftime lead as the Hawks shot just 25 percent from the floor and was 0-8 from three point land. Iowa beat Indiana 19-4 in the third quarter and would take a 38-37 lead after going on a 17-0 run. The Hoosiers did get a basket before the end of the third quarter to lead 39-38 after three.
The 4th quarter was a tug of war with seven lead changes. Chazadi Wright hit a three with just under 3 minutes left to give Iowa a 51-50 lead. Indiana would not score until a three pointer late but too late.
Iowa (14-2, 5-0) was led by Wright and Ava Heiden who each had 13 points and Hannah Steulke added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Heiden had 9 rebounds.
Indiana (11-7, 0-6) was led by Shay Ciezki with 21 points.
