(Neola, IA) — On Tuesday night, Tri Center outdueled Treynor in a battle of top ten basketball teams, winning 71-68 to take over first place in the Western Iowa Conference. Treynor had won 16 of the last 18 meetings between the two teams and the Trojans trailed 19-5 at the end of the first quarter and trailed by as many as 18 points in the 2nd quarter. Trojans Head Coach Chad Harder says they just started chipping away
Every time Tri Center would score, Treynor would answer with a big three pointer. The Trojans were down 9 in the 4th quarter and then Harder says it all came together
None of those players that Harder talked about were the team’s two leading scorers — AJ Harder did have 28 points to lead the Trojans. Tyler Baatz battled foul trouble and was limited to just 9 but Harder believes this team is more than about one or two players. The challenge now is not to have a let down
Tri Center will have a rematch at Treynor on February 6th — tonight they visit Glidden Ralston.
