(Columbus, OH) — Nebraska’s incredible basketball season keeps going as the 10th ranked Huskers won on the road Monday night at Ohio St. 72-69.
Nebraska is ranked in the top ten for the first time since 1966 and held off a furious rally by the Buckeyes — the Huskers led by 14 in the first half but OSU cut it 38-31 at halftime. Ohio St. would actually take the lead midway through the 2nd half and there were 8 lead changes as the game went back and forth.
Rienk Mast hit a big basket with 4:39 left — driving to the hoop Mast hit the shot and was fouled, completing the three point play gave the Huskers a 60-58 lead. The Huskers went on a 9-0 run but the Buckeyes came roaring back and Devin Royal hit a lay-up with 14 seconds left to cut the lead to 1. Jamarques Lawrence hit two free throws to push the lead back to three and Ohio St.’s last second three missed the mark.
Braden Frager came off the bench to lead Nebraska (15-0, 4-0) with 15 points, Mast had 12 and Pryce Sandfort and Lawrence each added 11.
John Mobley Jr. led Ohio St. (10-4, 2-2) with 22 points.
