(Ames, IA) — Iowa St.’s football team has been decimated by the transfer portal and there is no bigger position to fill than quarterback but new Head Coach Jimmy Rodgers may have found his man. According to a report on ESPN, Arkansas St.’s Jaylen Raynor will be coming to Ames to join the Cyclones. Raynor will be the heir apparent to Rocco Becht who made it official on Sunday and will transfer to Penn St. and rejoin former Head Coach Matt Campbell.
Raynor, ironically, played against Iowa St. this past season when the Cyclones visited Jonesboro. Raynor was 19-22 passing for 222 yards and 1 Interception and rushed for 83 yards and a TD in the Red Wolves 24-16 loss. For the season, Raynor threw for 3,361 yards which led the Sun Belt Conference, 19 TD and 11 INT and rushed for 423 yards and 7 TD. Arkansas St. went 6-6 and then beat Missouri St. in the XBox Bowl.
Raynor follows his Offensive Coordinator Keith Heckendorf who moves from Arkansas St. to become the Cyclones new Quarterbacks Coach.
