(Ames, IA) — Taliah Scott hit the game winning shot for Baylor in the last few seconds as the 22nd ranked Bears upset #10 Iowa St. 72-70 at Hilton Coliseum on Sunday.
The Cyclones had tied the game moments earlier on a Jada Williams three pointer but the Bears had time and found Scott open at the high post and she drained a wide open shot from the elbow for the game winner with 2.9 seconds left. Iowa St. looked for Audi Crooks in the lane in the very last second but the ball was batted away and the Cyclones did not get a shot off.
Crooks led Iowa St. (14-1, 2-1) with 26 points but only had 4 in the 2nd half. Williams, meanwhile, led ISU with a career high 28 points and was 6-17 from three point land. No one else for Iowa St. were in double figures in scoring — Addy Brown was held to just 2 points on 1-7 shooting. Brown did have 8 assists and 6 rebounds; Crooks had a double double with 10 rebounds.
Baylor (13-3, 2-1) was led by Scott’s 21 points which all came in the 2nd half. Darianna Littlepage-Buggs had 13 points and Yulting Deng had 12 off the bench.
