(Ames, IA) — Another chapter in the Iowa St. men’s basketball season begins tonight as the Cyclones begin play in the Big 12 by hosting West Virginia, coverage on KSOM.
The beginning to the season story for ISU will be hard to top after a 13-0 record and #3 ranking thanks to a blowout win at then #1 Purdue. Now Head Coach TJ Otzelberger says that its time to move on
On Monday, Iowa St. beat Houston Christian 89-61. 6-5 Senior Dominick Nelson had been in the rotation but did not play and Otzelberger instead went to 6-1 Junior Cade Kelderman from Waukee. Kelderman responded with a strong 13 minutes off the bench. Otzelberger says Nelson is not hurt it was just Kelderman earned more playing time
West Virginia is 9-4 but has not beaten a team from a Power conference with close losses to Clemson, Wake Forest, Xavier and a 89-88 loss to Ohio St. 5-10 Senior Honor Huff leads the Mountaineers at 17.5 ppg — Huff is playing for his third team with stops at VMI and Tennessee Chattanooga. Otzelberger says they will bring a big effort
Iowa St. hosts West Virginia tonight, tip off at 8 pm, Cyclones Pre Game at 7 pm on KSOM.
