(Red Oak, IA) — We’re heading into the final stretch of the 2025-26 girls wrestling season and the Red Oak Tigers have been preparing through the holiday break for a strong close to the season. The Tigers have had a rough start to the season and head coach Tiegan Podliska credits the competition:
Despite the team having their hands full in their first several meets, Podliska says that wrestling tough matches in season will set them up for success come post-season time. One of the things that Podliska is most proud of is the growth and leadership the girls have shown. When girls’ wrestling wasn’t fully recognized in the state yet, Podliska was already coaching a squad of girls including 2025 graduate Nicole Bond, who Podliska says had a big leadership role for the team:
Another aspect of the team that Podliska likes is their mentality. Through the tough competition that the girls have faced, Podliska says it’s easy for a losing record to diminish your confidence, but his squad is unaffected. Podliska says it’s a reflection of his time as a wrestler:
Despite only a couple of meets left in the regular season, Podliska is still determined on making sure the girls bring their best in the post-season:
The Red Oak Tigers Girls’ Wrestling team resumes their season on January 10th in the West Central Valley Invitational.
