(Atlantic, IA) — The Atlantic Boys Basketball team will be looking to end a three game losing streak when they play their first basketball game of 2026 this Friday. The Trojans were 2-2 before losses to three good teams Kuemper Catholic, Lewis Central and Winterset. Atlantic lost to the Huskies 78-49 — Head Coach Dalton Franken says they struggled with their post defense and couldn’t answer on the offensive end
Senior Gavin McLaren leads Atlantic averaging 15.1 points per game while Senior Kale Jensen chips in 10.1 points a contest. Franken needs his team to get more confident about their shooting
Jensen leads the Trojans in rebounds at 6 per game; Atlantic is averaging about 17 turnovers per game as a team which ranks 9th out of 11 teams in the Hawkeye Ten. Atlantic has shot the fewest amount of threes in the conference — the Trojans are 34 out of 107 from beyond the arc at a solid 32 percent which is tied for 4th.
