(Lincoln, NE) — In a battle of ranked opponents, #17 USC beat #20 Nebraska on Monday afternoon 74-66 in women’s basketball.
The Huskers led 20-12 after the first quarter but the Trojans went on a 10-2 run to tie the game at 22-22. Nebraska did lead 38-36 at the half.
The third quarter was dominated by USC — Jazzy Davidson hit a lay up early to tie the game at 38-38, Londynn Jones hit a three pointer for the Trojans to lead for good at 41-38. Davidson hit a 3 with 4:17 in the third and USC led by as many as 14 points, leading 65-52 after three quarters.
Nebraska cut the lead to 4 — 69-65 with 2:42 left but a Kara Dunn 16 footer made it 71-65 and a Husker turnover and a missed three sealed the Huskers fate.
Davidson and Kennedy Smith each had 17 points to lead USC (10-3, 2-0). Dunn had 14 and Jones added 13.
Britt Prince led Nebraska (12-1, 1-1) with 18 points — next up for the Huskers they visit Iowa on New Year’s Day.
