(Audubon, IA) — It didn’t take long for Audubon’s Jon Rasmussen to adjust to the high school wrestling scene, and it shows with a state appearance last year and a 12-3 record this year heading into the second half of his sophomore season. On December 6th, Rasmussen took home gold at the Dan Hill Invitational in the 138 class with a 9-7 decision win over Winterset’s Jayce Jensen. Rasmussen says that hard work in the offseason was the key to his ongoing sophomore success:

Rasmussen first stepped onto the mat at six years old when he was inspired by his cousins to wrestle and it’s been all about improvement for Rasmussen ever since. Rasmussen says he enjoys the individuality of the sport and how he feels in control of the outcome:
Rasmussen’s biggest goal this season is to get back into the state tournament, and to wrestle smarter once he gets there. Rasmussen says he’s much more confident in his abilities as a wrestler this time around:
Rasmussen will look to continue his impressive sophomore season on January 6th in a dual against Kuemper Catholic.
