(Council Bluffs) A Nebraska man was arrested for Attempted Murder and other charges in Council Bluffs.
The Council Bluffs Police Department says officers were called to a possible home invasion at 3317 2nd Ave., where they arrived to find the homeowner, Chad Opel, 42, restraining a suspect until police arrived. The suspect was identified as Antonio North, 41, of Omaha, Nebraska.
According to police, Opel owns the residence at 3317 2nd Ave., which is currently vacant while he makes repairs. As Opel was leaving his nearby home at 3315 2nd Ave., he noticed someone inside the vacant property. Opel entered the residence and confronted North.
During the confrontation, police say North stabbed Opel multiple times. Despite his injuries, Opel was able to restrain North until officers arrived. Opel was transported to the University of Nebraska Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. North was taken to Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs for treatment of a minor cut to the back of his head.
North has been charged with Attempted Murder, Assault Causing Bodily Injury, and Trespassing. He is currently being held in the Pottawattamie County Jail.
