(Pottawattamie Co.) The Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors Appointment Committee has selected Keith Jones to fill the vacant seat on the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors. Keith Jones will serve the remainder of the unexpired term on the Board of Supervisors through December 31, 2026.
The Appointment Committee met today at 2 p.m. to review applications and make the selection. The committee is composed of the County Auditor, County Treasurer, and County Recorder.
The newly appointed supervisor will be sworn in at the next Board of Supervisors meeting and begin official duties immediately.
Earlier this month, a District Court Judge ruled to remove Pottawattamie County Supervisor Scott Belt from Office. County Attorney Matt Wilber had filed a petition for removal after Belt attended a public meeting where he, allegedly, struggled to speak clearly and appeared unsteady. Witnesses saw him drinking at a bar prior to the meeting.
