(Atlantic) Atlantic hosts Kuemper, Catholic, in a girl/boy doubleheader basketball game tonight. The Atlantic girls’ squad has three straight wins and enters the contest with a 4-2 record. Kuemper is 4-1 with three consecutive victories.
The 2-2 Atlantic boys’ team enters the game tonight with two consecutive wins. Kuemper is 3-1, suffering their only loss to Clear Lake on Saturday. Atlantic Head Coach Dalton Franken says the Knights have another solid team this year, led by strong guard play, coupled with 6’5 post-player Ryan Clair.
Coach Franken expects the Knights to play an up-tempo game. The Knights enter the contest averaging over 80 points per game.
Gavin McLaren and Kale Jensen lead the Trojans in scoring with 13 points per game. The Trojans’ perimeter shooting is vastly improved from week one. Sawyer Tarrell is shooting 47.5 percent from behind the three-point line with eight threes. Coach Franken notes the Trojans are taking quality shots.
The girls’ game tips off at 6:00 p.m., with the boys’ game to follow. We will have both games on KS 95.7, and live-streamed on westerniowatoday.com TV and YouTube. The pregame starts at 5:45 p.m.
