(Council Bluffs) Haley Armstrong proved why she is one of the top-ranked wrestlers in the region by winning her second straight individual title at the prestigious Council Bluffs Wrestling Classic over the weekend.
Armstrong dominated the championship bracket with three falls in 1:06, 1:08, 2:48, and a fall in 1:27 over Molly Marty of Olathe North, Kansas in the finals. Leiah Thomas, (155) had a solid performance finishing fifth overall. Thomas defeated Kalen Jo Westerfield of Lewis Central in the fifth-place match by a pin in 4:38. Josephine Miller (170) finished in 15th.
Teagan Carritt of Logan-Magnolia won the championship at (145) Mary Bowman (170) finished sixth, Gracyn Stone (125), eighth, and Sophie Joyce (130), finished in ninth.
Two wrestlers finished in the top five, and another in the top ten for the Audubon Wheelers. Elena Harbour (140), and Macy Rasmussen (115) took home fifth place medals. Mackayla Zuniga, (100) finished in eighth.
Audrina Johansen (120) finished runner-up for Glenwood, and Breanne Grap (130) finished in sixth place.
