(Atlantic) Four players finished in double figures to lead Atlantic to a 50-42 win over Creston on Friday night. Gavin McLaren led the Trojans with 13 points, while both Gage Gross and Sawyer Tarrell contributed 12 points each, hitting three and four three-pointers, respectively. Kale Jensen, 11, and Corbin Ritter chipped in 2.
The Trojans started with a slight 10-9 lead in the first quarter but trailed 24-22 at halftime. Creston’s Rhett Driskell was the standout for the visiting team, scoring 14 points in the first half. McLaren and Gross kept Atlantic competitive, each adding nine points.

In the third quarter, Tarrell hit two crucial three-pointers that shifted the momentum, giving the Trojans a 27-25 lead and later a 30-27 advantage. After that, Atlantic maintained its lead, ending the third quarter ahead 41-34 and closing out the game at 50-42. Coach Franken says his ballclub just found a way to grind it out.
Rhett Driskell led the Panthers with 18 points.
With this win, the Trojans improve their record to 2-2 and will face Winterset in a non-conference game today, while the Panthers drop to 0-5.
