(Lewis) The second shotgun deer season starts on Saturday, December 13, and runs through December 21. Hunters are expected to harvest between 55,000 and 60,000 deer during these two seasons.
John Lorenzen, appearing on the KSOM DNR report, says so far in 2025, 170 deer have been harvested in Cass County, 248 in Pottawattamie County, 78 in Shelby County, 102 in Audubon County, 299 in Adair County, and 180 in Montgomery County.
It is a requirement that hunters wear 100-percent solid blaze orange, with a vest as a minimum.
