(Atlantic) Atlantic hosts Clarinda in a Hawkeye Ten Conference boys’ basketball game tonight. The Cardinals enter the contest with a 1-2 record.
Atlantic has fallen short against two quality teams in North Polk and Glenwood. Atlantic Head Coach Dalton Franken says the only option is to keep working to improve.
Coach Franken says Clarinda plays hard and runs a full-court press.
Sam Cline leads the Cardinals, averaging nine points per game, Cooper Baumgart, 8.67 points per outing, and Ryan Wagoner, 6.67. Clarinda is averaging 42.67 points per game as a team. Defensively, they have allowed the opposition 52 points per game. The Cardinals lost to Woodbine, 61-37, beat Red Oak, 45-38, and fell short to St. Albert, 57.46.
Kale Jensen leads Atlantic offensively, averaging 13.50 points per game, and Gavin McLaren is averaging 11 points per contest through the first two games. The Trojans fell to North Polk in the opener, 77-51, and lost to Glenwood, 81-43. The Trojans average 47 points per game, while allowing the opposition 79 points per contest.
