(Atlantic) The Atlantic Trojans won eight of fourteen matches on Thursday night, powering past Earlham 40–27 in a home wrestling dual.
Dayton Van Horn opened the night by receiving a forfeit at 106 pounds, giving Atlantic an early 6–0 lead. Earlham responded at 113, where Colter Lenze rallied to edge Atlantic’s Collin Harris 10–9, trimming the margin to 6–3. Both teams left 120 open.
Atlantic extended its lead when Keaton Schroeder dominated Andrew Van Zee with a 19–1 technical fall in four minutes, making it 11–3. Earlham answered quickly as Max Millage pinned Braxton Hass in 1:59 to close the gap to 11–9.
The Trojans regained momentum at 132, where Landon Hagen earned a 13–4 major decision over Bishop Hammen. Earlham tied the dual at 15–15 when Cole Eitel pinned D’art Hansen in 1:31.
From there, Atlantic took control by winning five of the next six bouts. Carter Hadley edged Carson, Winey 4–2; Jayden Harter earned a technical fall over Josh Winey; and Dreven Smith added a pin over Josh Winey to push the Trojans ahead 30–15. Earlham briefly halted the surge with Colton Nixt’s pin of Callan Kluever in 1:16, cutting the deficit to 30–21.
Atlantic closed out its scoring with a forfeit win for Donovan Hedrington and a fall by Traven Thomas over AJ Dunsky in 3:16, extending the lead to 42–21. Earlham finished the dual with a heavyweight pin, as Keegan Long defeated Cooper Woolsey.
