(Atlantic) The Cass County Board of Supervisors held its regular meeting on Tuesday morning in Atlantic.
The Board approved a resolution to abate taxes, penalties, and interest on three properties with the City of Atlantic, subject to the City of Atlantic taking possession. One for $374, another for $492, and the third is for $55.00.
Additionally, the supervisors approved three public hearings for December 16.
Karen Davis proposes establishing a dog-breeding facility on her property at 59708 Yankton Road. She requests a zoning change from Suburban Residential to General Agricultural. The zoning change is based on a recommendation from the planning and zoning commission.
The supervisor will also consider Kelly Wise’s request to build a commercial storage unit and seek to change the zoning ordinance from General Agriculture to Business at 67726 White Pole Road.
The Supervisor’s approved a public hearing for Tony Snyder, requesting a zoning change from General Agriculture to Light Industrial for a Firearms License at 54148 Boston Road.
The Board approved the public hearings, acknowledging receipt of the Cass County Zoning Commission’s recommendations.

The supervisors acknowledged receipt and approval of the EMS Advisory Board’s recommendation for the EMS levy. The levy allows EMS to set aside 75 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value in separate funds specifically for EMS needs. The one percent local option income surtax will be withheld beginning on January 1, 2026. In November 2024, Cass County voters approved EMS as an essential service; taxes already collected will be deposited into a new, separate EMS fund.
