(Stillwater, Oklahoma) Iowa State closed out the regular season with a 20-13 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday. The Cyclones finish the season with an 8-4 record, which is the 13th time in program history ISUs records an eight-win regular season.
The Cyclones got on the board first with 6:18 to play in the first quarter on a 45-year field goal by Kyle Konrardy. The field goal capped a 12-play 38-yard drive for the visitors. Iowa State added to its’ lead in the second quarter with a fumble recovery followed by Rocco Becht’s 16-yard touchdown pass to Chase Sowell capping a four-play 46-yard drive. Abu Sama’s 28-yard run sparked the Cyclones offense, that ate up just over 2:00 minutes off the clock.
Oklahoma State closed the gap to 10-7, with 6:50 to play in the first half on Trent Howland’s eight-yard run. Howland’s touchdown capped a 14-play, 80-yard possession for the Cowboy’s. The Cyclones held onto the three-point lead at the break.
Abu Sama broke loose again late in the third quarter on a 40-yard sprint to the end zone recording his fifth rushing touchdown of the season. Konrardy made the extra point to extend the lead to 17–7 following a 4-play, 79-yard drive.
Once again, the Cowboys made it a one possession game on Ward’s 28-yard field goal narrowing the score 17–10.
Drew Surges intercepted an Oklahoma State pass, and Konrardy connected on a 34-yard field goal, set up by an 8-play, 34-yard drive, increasing the lead to 20–10.
The Cowboys closed the gap to a one possession game with 04:02 remaining, on Wards 41-yard field goal, following a 9-play, 33-yard drive, bringing the score to 20–13. This remained the final score.
