(Atlantic) The Cass County Relay for Life Committee has announced the return of its annual Festival of Trees, set for Dec. 4–7 at 500 Chestnut Street—the Jazzercise location—in downtown Atlantic. The event brings holiday cheer to the community while raising cancer awareness and funds for the fight against the disease.
This year’s Festival includes several fundraisers to mark Relay for Life’s 40th anniversary. More than 40 gift certificates from local businesses have been gathered for a special raffle featuring two decorated trees, each containing half of the certificates—valued at over $500 per tree. Raffle tickets are $20 each or three for $50 and can be purchased ahead of time at Brown Shoe Fit in Atlantic or during the event.
Additional raffles will also be held throughout the Festival, including drawings for a Relay for Life quilt and multiple gift baskets. Tickets for these items will be available for $1 each or six for $5, with visitors able to choose which items their tickets go toward.
Local businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to register in advance for a display space. Those interested may email ddmarnin@yahoo.com to be added to the invite list. Space is limited, and drop-in displays will not be accepted. Monetary or gift donations to support the event can be arranged by contacting Carole Schuler at 712-254-0766 or any committee member.
Festival hours are Thursday, Dec. 4, and Friday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A free-will donation is encouraged, and visitors can enjoy cookies and cider as they tour the displays. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society in the continued fight against cancer.
