(Griswold, IA) — The Griswold girls basketball team is looking to break the six win funk — the Tigers have been 6-16 the last two seasons but Head Coach Aaron Houser is pinning his hopes this season on some key returning starters and a roster that will not include any freshmen. Houser was expecting that so he will lean on the sophomore class for depth.
Junior Amanda Houser (11.6 ppg) is the leading returning scorer who can penetrate and score and her Dad and Coach says that she ends up handling the ball a lot and can create scoring opportunities for others
Senior Josie Millikan can provide some rebounding and Houser hopes her offensive numbers will improve. Other scorers include Juniors Sadie Gohlinghorst (5.6 ppg) and Carsyn Adams (5.6 ppg)
Juniors Zoey Amos and Bristol Wyman will compete for the 5th starting spot. Sophomores Camille Dorscher, Alexa Steinhoff, Ailey Baxter will be in the rotation. Houser says the strengths of the team are in speed and athleticism but need to do a better job of taking care of the basketball
Griswold opens their season at home on Tuesday December 2nd against Fremont Mills.
