(Elk Horn, IA) — Exira EHK is poised to have a big season in girls basketball this season — the Spartans return four starters off of last year’s 18-6 season. Junior Taryn Petersen was a 2nd team All State selection last year in Class 2A although Exira EHK is in Class 1A this season and is ranked 6th in the pre-season poll. Taryn’s Head Coach and Dad Tom Petersen says she has to stay out of foul trouble but has improved in some areas
Senior Jaelynn Petersen (11.1) compliments her cousin Taryn in many ways in scoring but her Uncle Tom Petersen says there are other areas of her game that is underrated
Exira EHK will have depth inside — Senior Harlow Miller has come out for basketball this season — Petersen says she has not played since her freshman season. Kadence Sporrer (5.8 ppg) is a returning starter who can score and rebound. Petersen has experience in his other two starting spots
Petersen would like to see improvement in his defense before the Spartans open their season on Monday, December 1st against Riverside.
