(Des Moines) The extended forecast calls for a chance of snow from Friday through Monday. This is certainly of interest for those traveling after Thanksgiving.
Ashley Bury with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says they are watching a system that is forecast to move through the area on Friday. Bury says there is a chance of accumulating snow with that system, although the exact amounts are currently difficult to predict. However, she mentioned there is a possibility of one to two inches of the white stuff, and possibly higher amounts in some areas of the state. “This is something to keep an eye on over the next several days, that could certainly impact travel.”
Bury says winds will be below the criteria for blizzard conditions. Stay tuned to KSOM/KS95 for the latest weather forecasts. Road condition reports can be found at 511ia.org.
