(Atlantic) The Atlantic fire department was called to a house fire near 3rd and Hazel streets at around 6:00 this morning. Atlantic Fire Chief Tom Cappel said upon arrival, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the upstairs of the home.
Cappel tells KSOM/KS95 News that, upon arrival, it was reported that some people may still be inside the home. “When the Atlantic Police Department arrived, they entered through the back side of the house and found an individual still inside. They grabbed her and got her out of the house.” “We went into an offensive attack, got crews packed up, and got inside, and found no other occupants.
The fire was knocked down by 7:00 a.m. No injuries were reported. Cappel said at this time the cause of the fire is unknown. Cappel thanks the firefighters with the Atlantic Fire Department, the Atlantic Police Department and Cass EMS for their help on scene.
