(Oakland, IA) — The legend is gone and her shadow is large but Riverside girls wrestling still has talent in the dog house. Molly Allen leaves with an undefeated high school career and is now at Oklahoma St. but Head Coach Ben Dorr is excited about his talent coming back going into tonight’s season opener. Sophmores Jersey Hilgenberg (27-17) and Hailey Harvey (31-6) both went to the state tournament last year and will try to push their way onto the podium — Dorr says they ready for the challenge
Another sophomore is Mckenna Dorr (26-18) who just missed state last season — Ben Dorr says she has an ankle injury that will keep her on the sidelines to start the season and hopes she will be back in a month. Dorr does have high hopes for Riverside’s only senior Khloe Corum who went 16-19 last season
The Bulldogs have three juniors — Hannah Marsh is returning from a knee injury, Sarah Cody (13-15) and Courtney Kvaal (9-16). Other sophomores include Ryleigh Garrison (13-12) and Chloe Guinn (8-10) and there are 8 freshmen on the team — Dorr says Rylei Price has great potential. Dorr says they will develop the young talent this season and the room is full with athletes and he attributes some of that to Allen
Riverside will open tonight at Sioux City West in a quad with Sioux City North and Missouri Valley.
